HIV/AIDS Symptoms
Symptoms and Signs to Look Out For
Right after getting HIV, some people may experience flu-like symptoms within 2–4 weeks:
- Fever
- Chills
- Rash
- Sore throat
- Fatigue
- Swollen lymph nodes
But many people have no symptoms at all for years. That’s why regular testing is key—especially if you’re sexually active.
If HIV progresses without treatment, symptoms can include:
- Rapid weight loss
- Night sweats
- Prolonged fever
- Unusual infections
- Skin issues or sores
By the time these symptoms show up, the immune system is already weakened. Early testing = early treatment = better outcomes.
